With years of experience across Newfoundland, we select trusted accommodations and local restaurants, ensuring you stay and dine at some of the best establishments along our route.
St. John’s & Eastern Newfoundland
We begin in St. John’s, the oldest city in North America and one of Canada’s most photogenic capitals.
We explore the famous Jelly Bean Row houses, where narrow streets and bold colours offer endless photographic possibilities. Each area has its own character, and you’ll be guided to iconic viewpoints as well as lesser-known locations. Along the way, you’ll gain insight into the history and culture that shapes the city.
From the South Side Hills, we photograph sweeping views of The Battery before visiting Fort Amherst and its historic lighthouse overlooking the harbour entrance.
At Cape Spear, the most easterly point in North America, we photograph the oldest surviving lighthouse in Newfoundland, a designated National Historic Site of Canada. For early risers, sunrise here is a truly unforgettable experience.
We also visit coastal fishing communities such as Quidi Vidi and Petty Harbour, where colourful boats, historic fishing stages, and daily life provide rich storytelling opportunities.
Many days conclude at Signal Hill, capturing Cabot Tower, panoramic harbour views, and evening light as the city transitions into night.
Bonavista Peninsula & Northeast Coast
From St. John’s, we travel to the Bonavista Peninsula, one of the most iconic regions for photography in the province.
With the extra day built into this tour, we can slow the pace and fully explore the peninsula’s rugged coastline, quiet coves, and fishing communities. We actively track icebergs along the northeast coast and adjust our daily route based on conditions — detours are common, and flexibility is key.
In the community of Elliston, we spend time at the puffin colony, offering guidance on respectful approach, composition, and behaviour to help you capture strong wildlife images.
On our journey, we stop in the historic town of Trinity, known for its preserved architecture, fishing stages, and maritime heritage — a favourite among photographers.
Wildlife & Optional Zodiac Adventures
A highlight of this tour is a visit to Cape St. Mary’s Ecological Reserve, home to one of the world’s largest Northern Gannet colonies.
Icebergs, whales, and puffins are seasonal visitors to Newfoundland. While tours are scheduled during peak times, sightings cannot be guaranteed. However, the six-day format significantly increases our chances by allowing us to remain mobile and adaptable.
For guests who want to get closer to icebergs and whales, an optional Zodiac boat tour is available. Experiencing the North Atlantic from the water offers unmatched perspectives for photographing wildlife, icebergs, and dramatic coastal scenery.
A Fully Customized Experience
This tour is fully customizable, allowing us to tailor the itinerary around what interests you most. Whether you want to spend extended time photographing puffins, focus more on landscapes and seascapes, or create a balanced mix of wildlife and cultural locations, we design the experience to match your goals.
During our time together, we can adjust daily plans based on weather, light, wildlife activity, and your preferences. Additional locations such as Fogo Island, Gros Morne National Park, or Twillingate can be incorporated, or we can revisit favourite locations as conditions change.
This flexibility allows for a truly personal experience, creating the best possible combination of locations, subjects, and photographic opportunities throughout your time in Newfoundland.
If you’re looking for an unforgettable photography or sightseeing experience that goes beyond quick stops and truly connects you with Newfoundland’s landscapes, wildlife, and culture, this tour delivers.
