Join us as we photograph St. John’s which is the oldest city in North America.
We start our tour photographing the most easterly location in North America at sunrise. At Cape Spear we can photograph the oldest surviving lighthouse in Newfoundland; the location is designated a National Historic Site of Canada. The original lighthouse building and the light-keeper’s residence has been restored to the period of 1839. If you are an early riser we can be there to catch the sunrise, which will be something that will stay with you forever.
During this workshop we will visit Jelly Bean Row houses where you can capture all the brilliant colours of downtown St. John’s. Each street in historic St. John’s has a unique character and provides great photographic opportunities. A local professional photographer will also show you behind-the-scenes photo locations. You will be guided to the most scenic areas while listening to a little history lesson on Jelly Bean Row.
During our trip we will also visit the South Side Hills where you can capture pictures of The Battery, which is a favourite for photographers. From here we can explore Fort Amherst and get some great pictures of the old lighthouse that greets passengers as they enter St. John’s harbour.
Fishing villages provide great photo opportunities during your time in Newfoundland. We will visit Quidi Vidi where you can photograph fishing boats and old fishing stages, and become immersed in the Newfoundland culture. In busy Petty Harbour, small fishing boats come and go, allowing for more great photos.
We will visit other areas as well as we photograph St. John’s and the surrounding area.
Cape Spear, St. John's and area.

The sooner you are able to make your booking, the better. We have no way of knowing when other people will book, so by the time you decide to confirm your place, it may be that the tour is already filled up! Our advice is to book as soon as you’ve made the decision to travel.
The tours are held rain, shine, or snow. In the event of inclement weather, we will work with what nature presents us at the time. Some of the best images are captured under poor weather so we will be very creative and try to get the best images that the day presents us. We advise you to check the weather conditions for your days event and dress appropriately. It is also advisable to pack waterproof bags to protect you camera and lenses. Always better to be safe!
They maybe requested and arranged based on tour or workshop being attended.

Kathy WWe had a great photo tour with Michael. We got great photos mostly due to his suggestions and patience. He took us to many out of the way locations we would never have found on our own. The accommodations and adventure activities he suggested were first rate. Definitely a great trip to remember.
