Autumn Photo Tour | October 9–14
Landscapes, Fall Colours, Caribou, Bald Eagles, Moose & Foxes
Experience Newfoundland’s rugged beauty during peak autumn on this six-day, six-night guided photography tour. You’ll capture golden birch and red maple trees at their peak, dramatic coastal scenes, and wildlife such as caribou, moose, foxes, and bald eagles. We’ll visit some of the most scenic regions of the west coast, including Gros Morne National Park, Bottle Cove, and more—perfectly timed for fall colour.
Itinerary Overview
Day 1 – October 9: Arrival & Travel to the West Coast
We begin in St. John’s, heading west across the island with scenic photo stops along the way. You’ll photograph rolling landscapes, forests ablaze in autumn colour, and lakes reflecting the season’s vibrance.
Alternatively, guests may fly into Deer Lake, where we can pick you up directly to start the tour from the west coast. We’ll settle into our accommodations and capture a relaxed golden-hour session nearby.
Day 2 – October 10: Gros Morne National Park – South & North Sides
We spend the full day in Gros Morne National Park, beginning with the south side in the morning—where we’ll photograph fjords, trails, and dramatic coastal cliffs bursting with fall foliage.
After lunch, we continue to the north side, featuring wide valleys, colourful woodlands, and panoramic viewpoints perfect for autumn landscape photography.
Day 3 – October 11: Bald Eagles by Boat & Sunset at Bottle Cove
In the morning, we’ll take a boat tour along the coast to photograph bald eagles, seabirds, and striking shoreline features from the water.
After a break, we head to Bottle Cove for an evening session, capturing layered cliffs, colourful skies, and dramatic light as the sun sets over the ocean.
Day 4 – October 12: Western Brook Pond & Northern Wildlife
We venture further up the coast, stopping at Western Brook Pond and other wild areas to photograph caribou, moose, and foxes in their natural habitat. The forests here are particularly brilliant with autumn colour.
We’ll also visit coastal fishing villages and seascapes, offering rich cultural and scenic photo opportunities.
Day 5 – October 13: Wildlife, Lighthouses & Final West Coast Shoot
Our last full day on the west coast is flexible—focused on wildlife, colourful landscapes, and lighthouses along the coast. We’ll make the most of conditions to chase great light and subjects before preparing for our return east the next morning.
Day 6 – October 14: Return to St. John’s & Departure
Day 6 – October 14: Morning Session, Airport Drop-Off, and Travel Back to St. John’s
On our final morning, we will have a short sunrise or early photo session before departure. Guests flying out of Deer Lake will be dropped off at the airport before we begin our drive back to the east coast, if requested. For those returning to St. John’s, we will leave the west coast just before lunchtime and make our way across the island, stopping for any final scenic opportunities if time allows.
